Step Outside is a platform for the creation of place-based digital artworks. The platform uses the ubiquitous technologies currently used to increase consumption and disconnection (specifically smartphone technologies and location based services) to connect new audiences to nature. 

People have become increasingly disconnected from each other, from nature, and from the environments that sustain them. The proliferation of mobile and ubiquitous technologies that once offered promise of social connection have instead facilitated disconnection and isolation. Step Outside seeks to use those technologies to connect people to the natural environment, encouraging new audiences to explore and connect to the natural world by putting art in the places and spaces that inspire it.
